In June the first regional Nordic Baltic network meeting, within the framework of the Nordic Baltic Pilot project, was held. The seminar was a key step in the building of a Nordic Baltic network for support, protection, safe return, and rehabilitation of women victims of trafficking for sexual exploitation. The group brought together for the seminar consisted of the national coordinating teams from all 8 Nordic and Baltic countries (representing NGO service providers, key government agencies, and additional resource persons.
During this first meeting the network explored existing practices in the region and started to define the ways, in which services and assistance could be improved throughout all 8 countries in areas such as victim identification, multi-disciplinary support services, financial assistance and compensation to victims, etc. - ensuring that the rights and well being of the women victims are at the centre of all activities.
