Prostitution: EWL called for action against the adoption of Council of Europe (CoE) report, ”Prostitution – which stance to take?” adopted by the Committee on Equal Opportunities for Women and Men. The report calls for a regulationist approach seeing prostitution as a profession, based of free choice, which is in opposition to EWL position that regards prostitution and trafficking in women as a fundamental violation of women’s human rights. According to EWL, prostitution and trafficking in women should not be associated with the terms "forced" or "free”, and the fact that "free choice" is a relative factor should be recognised. It is with regret that EWL informs readers that the document was adopted by the Council of Europe’s Parliamentary Assembly without amendments on the 5th of October.
